magazine art

I just found Magazine Paper Pots. Yes, recycled magazines. You heard it right. I cannot believe what they come up with these days.Sorry, but I HAVE been stumped as to what to do with magazines, up till today when I discovered this. Now I just need to learn how to actually do something like this.

More here, as well, you can also buy it at link given at start of this sentence.

Now, with magazines flowing into my house, I ought to try and see if I could teach myself to make things like this. Would be an interesting project. I would classify this as upcycling old magazines. Who’da thunk a magazine could be turned into a vase, or whatever you could make it into? I wouldn’t have thought this, but Papier Mache.
Even then, I would not have thought magazine glossy paper not as good for that as newspaper would have been. Oh, I don’t know.

I just went back to the page and studied the vases there a bit more. Seems that they cut the magazines into ribbon-size strips and wrapped them from a “middle” until they came to a point where a top was completed, then, same goes, somewhat for the bottom part of the artwork.

Bamboo cars!??? Now what??

Posted in WTH! on September 6th, 2009 by admin — Be the first to comment!

Now what is this world coming to? First time I have ever heard of this: Bamboo Cars! Made in the Philippines, cars are being made from BAMBOO! Car bodies are made from Bamboo and can last 10 years and this is thought to be more environmentally friendly than steel. It takes 10 tons of iron ore to form a steel plate and 5 Million Btus of heat to do this.

Bamboo has more tensile strength and the body is treated with polyurethane , so that the car is unaffected by weather conditions and not to catch fire.

And it is dependent on coconut biofuel , and NOT fossil fuel. What a concept!

For more, Bamboo Car

This is so interesting!
